"Stand Down 2010" Veterans

The Connecticut Department of Veterans' Affairs is once again sponsoring "Stand Down 2010", a day-long support services program for needy and homeless veterans at the State Veterans' Home campus in Rocky Hill.
Over 70 state, federal and community agencies are expected to be on-hand to provide direct assistance and resources to homeless and needy veterans. To include state and federal veteran benefit information, Employment and educational assistance, medical screenings, and legal and motor vehicle assistance. In these difficult economic times, it is more important that ever that we work together to move needy and homeless veterans toward independence.
Veterans in need or those who might be helping to care for them can pre-register using the enclosed forms. For more information, call 860-616-3802 or visit www.ct.gov/ctva Pre-registration is encouraged but not required to attend Stand Down.
Free shuttle buses will be operating from the state's major urban centers to Rocky Hill. To access the .pdf transportation schedule click here. The VA encourages and welcomes local groups to organize and provide their own transportation to Stand Down. There is ample parking on their campus at Rocky Hill. |

St. Casimir Church Annual Polish Festival

This years Polish Festival is located at The Lyceum, 181 Main St., Route 6 and features Polish and American foods. Live polka music by "Swinging Brass" begins at 1:00 pm and much more!
Admission is free and the public is invited.

5th Annual Bob Corbin Memorial Toys for Tots Golf Tournament

For the 5th year in a row, the Polish American Political Club is sponsoring a golf tournament to benefit The Charlie Company Marine Reserves out of Plainville, CT with their annual toy drive. The tournament is located at the Pequabuck Golf Course, 56 School St., Pequabuck.
Registrations is at 8:00 am and Shot gun starts at 9:00 am. The price is $110 per player (entry fee must be paid by September 14th). This includes golf, lunch, dinner, raffle prizes, and hole in one chances to win a 2010 Harley or a 2010 Toyota.

They are also looking for raffle donations and hole sponsors. Sponsor cost is $100 per hole with a sign that includes your company logo.
