Form of Government
The Town of Plymouth has a mayor-council form of government with a Mayor, Town Council, Board of Finance and Town Meeting. Local elections are held every two years (in odd-numbered years) on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The annual budget is approved at referendum.

The Mayor is an elected position with a 2 year term. The Mayor is directly responsible for the administration of all town departments, and is the Chief Executive Officer of the Town.
Residents are encouraged to share ideas and comments with the Mayor and the staff. We have an open-door policy, however, to ensure that adequate time can be given to anyone, residents are encouraged to make an appointment. |

The Comptroller's Office is responsible for the following:

Supervise the safekeeping and distribution of all funds for the Town of Plymouth. |
|
Coordinate the preparation and administration of the budget. |
|
Provide cash management of town funds, including investments, debt service and accounts payable. |
|
Prepare and maintain the Town of Plymouth's payroll functions. |
|
Oversee purchasing and bidding. |
|
Administer the town pension plan and insurance coverage's. |
|
Prepare financial information for the annual audit and bond offerings. |
|
Provide financial information to the public, boards and commissions, and department heads. |
