LIGHT THE WAY FOR KINDNESS/DAY OF KINDNESS

Date: April 14, 2019 - April 30, 2019
Time: 8:00 AM - 12:00 AM

Location: PLYMOUTH, TERRYVILLE AND PEQUABUCK CONNECTICUT

Plymouth Keys For Kindness and The Terryville Lions Club will be holding the 4th annual LIGHT THE WAY FOR KINDNESS EVENT here in Plymouth starting on Sunday, April 14, 2019.
All residents, business owners, churches, and organizations in Plymouth, Terryville and Pequabuck are once again encouraged to show that 'kindness lives here' by displaying purple lights or other purple decor. Examples include purple spotlights, string lights, bulbs, wreaths, luminary bags, ribbons and BE KIND signs. We will have some signs available and distribute them for the event, which lasts approximately two weeks, at which time they will be recollected. Lights can be left up for as long as you like.
We will be decorating the tree in Baldwin Park with purple lights and are looking into other ideas for the park. Thank you to the Beautification Committee who will be providing purple flowers in the park as well. It would be wonderful if many of the businesses, especially those close to that area and all along Route 6, join in again with lights so as to have a noticeable display as drivers pass through town. If you would like to help in any way to make this event successful, please contact us!
April 14, 2019 is also the second annual, official DAY OF KINDNESS in Plymouth!
We encourage schools and child care centers to celebrate in some way on Friday, April 12th. Participation can be as simple as wearing purple to school or holding a 'kindness collection' for a local non-profit.
With your help we would like there to be as many different acts of kindness occurring on that day as possible.
Some ideas include:
• paying it forward at the drive-thru
• smiling at strangers
• making goodies for a friend or neighbor
• visiting the elderly
• volunteering at or donating to the food
pantry
• picking up trash in our local parks
• businesses offering a special
• residents supporting town businesses
• painting kindness rocks and leaving locally
for someone to find
• thanking our local first responders
The possibilities are endless!
If you have any other ideas or your business, organization, family, or friends would like to coordinate your own KINDNESS project for that day, please let us know!
Contact us through our Facebook page or send an email to jmddeforest@gmail.com or bdhoosier@aol.com.
Help us create a butterfly effect in the world by coming together to spread joy and positivity by uniting Plymouth through kindness. Let's make this a special day in our community!
Thank you so much!
