After the Memorial Day parade concludes on the Plymouth Green, take a fascinating tour of the Burying Ground, created in 1747, where 38 soldiers from the Revolutionary War are buried. Michael Angelicola will demonstrate the art of gravestone restoration. He has refurbished many of the monuments in the cemetery. On the tour you will discover how the inscriptions and symbolic carvings on the stones provide clues to life in colonial Connecticut. The tour then goes across the street to the Henry Terry House, where visitors will see the tunnel in the cellar used by slaves escaping to freedom on the Underground Railroad. This is a rare opportunity as the home is privately owned and not often open to the public. Suggested donation: $10 for adults, kids free. All proceeds are used to restore the Burying Ground.
