Inspect buildings to determine compliance with municipal and other codes and/or ordinances. Examine buildings for type of construction, condition of roof, and fireproofing. Determine the risk represented by adjoining buildings, by nature of business, and building contents, and administer the State of Connecticut building codes and Public Act #443. May serve as the enforcement officer or the deputy enforcement officer for the planning and zoning commission. Assist the Sanitarian.

Supervise the safekeeping and distribution of all funds for the Town of Plymouth. Coordinate the preparation and administration of the budget. Provide cash management of town funds, including investments, debt service and accounts payable. Prepare and maintain the Town of Plymouth's payroll functions. Oversee purchasing and bidding. Administer the town pension plan and insurance coverage's. Prepare financial information for the annual audit and bond offerings. Provide financial information to the public, boards and commissions, and department heads.

The Terryville Volunteer Fire Department is a non-profit corporation chartered by the State of Connecticut and established to provide fire protection and emergency service to the people of the Town of Plymouth. Such services include emergency response to fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous material incidents, and other related calls. The Terryville Volunteer Fire Department is also extremely active with Fire Prevention programs. These programs are offered to elementary schools, cub scouts, senior citizens groups and special groups as needed. At the present time, we have 95 regular members. The Fire Marshal's Office is responsible for inspections and investigation, public education, plan review, and the firehawk program for child firesetters. The Human Services Department works to promote and assist individuals and families who have insufficient income and/or assets to meet their essential needs. Residents experiencing hardship because of temporary unemployment or illness are encouraged to seek assistance at the address above or to call the phone number above.

The Land Use Office also works closely with the Mayor's Office to negotiate special incentive packages in support of significant development projects. The Town's Small Cities and HOME grants are also monitored through the office.

The Plymouth Volunteer Ambulance Corps was established in 1968. The department provides around the clock emergency medical services to people who live, work, and visit the Town of Plymouth. There are about 30 volunteer EMT's (Emergency Medical Technicians) and EMR's (Emergency Medical Responders). The PVAC Bike Team provides EMS services for events and parades to increase response time in crowded environments.

The Plymouth Police Department is responsible for the preservation of the public peace, prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals, regulation of traffic, protection of rights of persons and property, and enforcement of the laws of the state and ordinances of the town and all rules and regulations made in accordance therewith.

Public Health/Human Services - To aid in the development of a sound community health program by communicating and cooperating with other community health, social, and welfare agencies.

The Department of Public Works is responsible for the management of the Town Hall, Highway Department, Transfer Station, Maintenance Garage, Engineering, the Water Pollution Control facilities, and many other support needs of our fellow departments.

The town will pre treat roads with an Enhanced Deicer when frozen precipitation is forecasted. The purpose of pre treating roads is to prevent precipitation from bonding to the road, and to facilitate melting of the precipitation as it falls. Enhanced deicer will continue to be used during the storm event as required.

The Tax Office collects a variety of bills, real estate tax, motor vehicle, personal property, as well as sewer use. We also collect aircraft registrations. The Tax Collector is an elected position with a 4 year term.
